Cracked Heels Home Remedies

Excessive build up of dry dead skin causes the problem of cracked heels.  To overcome this, exfoliate your heals on a regular routine.  Stay away from harsh chemical scrubs.  Instead put together your own exfoliating scrub with apple cider vinegar, honey and rice flout.  You can buy rice flour at the health food store.  Mix together equal portions of rice flour, honey and apple cider vinegar.  Adjust the ingredients if necessary so that it makes a thick past.  If the cracks are severe, put in some olive oil.  Soak your feet for 15 minutes in sea salt, pat dry and put on the paste.  The vinegar is acidic and will help remove dead skin and the honey and olive oil will moisturize the areas.

As far as I’m concerned Vaseline is a waste of money.  It makes as much sense as soaking your feet in motor oil because Vaseline is made from petroleum oil.  Instead, use crack cream, shea gutter, cocoa butter or straight up coconut oil (which is solid at normal room temp).  These will all work and then put on a thick amount and cover that with socks so it stays on your feet.  If you are getting that dry crusted crocodile skin, the greatest home remedy I have yet to discover is papaya.  It is loaded with a powerful plant enzyme that is also used as a digestive enzyme and a meat tenderizer.  I think its called papain. Smash up some papaya and spread it on your feet to soak.

Mix together a tablespoon of olive oil with a few drops of lavender oil or lemon oil.  Put these oils in a small bottle and add the same amount of water to it.  Shake this vigorously so it emulsifies and it will appear to be thick and milky.  Use this home remedy on your cracked heels instead of commercial creams that have bad chemicals.  Shake the preparation every time you use it.

If you have cracked heels, don’t every let your feet get dry.  Keep them moist with hand cream or oil.

One of the best home remedies for calluses and cracked feet is to soak your feet in warm water.  Add three tablespoons of regular baking soda to a tub of water and soak your feet.

***

If you soak your feet in chamomile tea, it will, for a short time, alter the pH (acid – alkaline) of your skin.  The tea will discolor your feet a little but this can be washed off easily with water and soap.

***

Put some cornstarch in between your toes and on the bottoms of your feet to keep these areas dry.  Moisture an cause a corn or callus to feel bad and it also can encourage fungal growth.

***

Take a cotton ball and soak it in vinegar and then use tape to hold it over your calluses.  Let the vinegar work overnight and then in the morning work on the area with a pumice stone.  This is a good natural remedy for cracked heels

A very useful home remedy for cracked heels is to and juice of 1 lemon to a teaspoon of petroleum jelly.  Work this into problem areas and cracks.  Allow this enough time to soak in.

***
Melt some paraffin wax and blend in some mustard oil.  This is a commonly used natural cure.  Let this soak into your feet overnight by putting on heavy socks.  Remove it in the morning.  Do this for about 2 weeks and the periodically after that.

***

Make sure you are getting enough minerals and vitamins. One of the best things for cracked heels is omega 3 fatty acids.  You can get this by taking some flax seed oil every day or eating flax seeds.  Also make sure your diet has green vegetables and whole-grain products.

***

Put on coconut oil to soften the skin on your heels.  This is one of the best cracked heel home remedies.
