Leg Cramps Natural Home Remedies, Cures & Treatments

Iron

I used to get cramps every night when I went to sleep.  They would get real bad and I had a hard time getting them to stop.  It didn’t matter how many bananas I ate.  I went to the doctor and they did some blood work on me and discovered that I was anemic and that my iron level was really low.  I had to start taking an iron supplement for about six months to regain my normal levels of iron in my blood.  It took a couple of weeks of taking the iron supplement before the cramping finally stopped.  If you are having leg cramping issues; your natural remedy may be to get in the car and go see your doctor.

When I was pregnant I had horrible cramps every night and I learned a few tricks to help relieve them.  First, I took a couple of Tums and had a banana every night before going to bed.  When you feel the cramps starting, don’t move quickly or you can lock up the cramp and make it worse.  Try to lie on your back and slowly point your toes upward toward you.  This will help to stretch out the calf muscle.  Be sure not to stretch the calf muscle too fast or hard.  Also, if you can, gently massage the affected calf muscle.
