Low Blood Pressure Home Remedies, Natural Cures & Treatments

Epsom Salt Bath

Low blood pressure can be effectively managed at home.  A great home remedy to treat low blood pressure symptoms is to soak in a hot Epsom salt bath.  You should try doing this before going to bed at night.

Decrease Alcohol

To treat low blood pressure naturally, try this simple home remedy.  Decrease your alcohol intake and start drinking more water.  Even if you drink your alcohol in moderation, it is dehydrating to your body and lowers blood pressure.  Water actually increases the volume of your blood and keeps your body well hydrated.

Healthy Diet

Hypotension (or low blood pressure) is a common problem and can be easily treated using lots of different natural cures.  One of the most helpful is to simply stick to a healthy diet.  Try to get all of your nutrients by eating lots of different foods.  Try fish, lean chicken, vegetables, fruits and whole grains.  Your doctor may suggest adding more salt to your diet.  Instead of using the processed, iodized salt, try using dry soup mixes, dressings or a natural soy sauce.  These are all great and healthy ways to treat low blood pressure.

Leg Exercises

Becoming dizzy and lightheaded are commonly reported by people that have low blood pressure when they stand.  To avoid this, try moving slowly when changing positions.  You may also find it helpful to take a few deep breaths before getting out of bed in the morning.  If you elevate the head of your bed, you can help stave off the effects of gravity, which can also help with some low blood pressure symptoms.  If you start to feel dizzy or lightheaded when standing, simply cross your legs so that the thighs are touching and squeeze your legs together.  You can also put one foot on a chair or raised ledge and then lean forward (as far as you possible can ).  Both of these odd (but effective!) moves help redirect your blood flow from your legs to your heart.  These are all excellent home remedies for low blood pressure symptoms.

Low Carbohydrates

You can manage low blood sugar naturally by following the simple home remedy of eating low carb meals.  You'll also need to eat several small portions throughout the day and limit carbohydrate rich foods like bread, pasta and potatoes.  Both of these changes can help to keep your blood pressure from sharply dropping after a meal.  Another good way to treat low blood pressure naturally is to ingest some caffeine with your meals (tea and coffee are good choices).  Caffeine isn't safe for everyone and can cause health problems, so be sure to speak with your health care provider before trying anything with caffeine to treat your low blood pressure.  These are all some of my favorite natural cures for low blood pressure.

Raw Beetroot Juice

One of the most effective natural treatments for low blood pressure is raw beetroot juice.  Try drinking this daily and you should see an improvement in your low blood pressure.

Increase Fluid Intake

Common symptoms of low blood pressure are nausea and dizziness.  If this frequently happens to you, it's a good idea to know how to naturally control these so that you can prevent them from happening.  To combat these symptoms of hypotension, try increasing your intake of fluids.  It's important that you drink quality fluids like water that increase the volume of the blood and increase the supply of blood throughout the body.  Avoid alcohol as this decreases the volume of blood.

Asafetida

One of my favorite natural cures for low blood pressure is to use asafetida in food, as this helps to increase the blood pressure naturally.  A great way to do this is to soak raisins in water overnight and then consume them in the morning.  This should be done before breakfast; preferably on an empty stomach.

Yoga

A great natural treatment for low blood pressure is to try to work on the amount of blood supplied to all of the body's tissues.  One of the best ways to accomplish this is by practicing yoga.  Yoga incorporates various breathing techniques and exercises that will increase the amount of blood that is pumped all over the body.  This is an excellent home remedy for low blood pressure.

Cactus Flowers

A great homeopathic treatment for hypotension is a tincture made from the flowers of cactus.  The tincture should be made to third attenuation.  If nervous palpitation is present, then a higher attenuation is acceptable.  This natural remedy is best suited for individuals that have a weak pulse accompanied with a weak or irregular heartbeat.  It has been shown that the arteries and heart respond very well to this remedy.

Camphor

If your low blood pressure is causing you to feel a cold feeling all over your body along with a weak pulse and a sudden loss of strength, then this natural homeopathic cure for low blood pressure may be for you.  If you are also suffering from low body temperature, try three doses of camphor in fifteen minute intervals.  You can also make a tincture (using drop dosages).

Avoid Processed Foods

Low blood pressure can be treated using this simple home remedy.  Try to cut out all foods from your diet that are high in cholesterol, red meat, caffeine and fried foods.  The adrenal system can be slowed down significantly when these foods are ingested.  When you consume these foods, other systems in the body will slow down as well.  Avoid foods like these and you'll be able to naturally regulate your blood pressure.

Lemon Juice

A wonderful all-purpose tonic, lemon juice is excellent for raising blood pressure.  This natural low blood pressure cureis great because it energizes the liver, which helps your body to digest food and provide essential nutrients to the body.  To fully reap the benefits of lemon juice, try this great home remedy.  Simply drink about twelve ounce of spring water with a fresh lemon squeezed in it about thirty minutes before you eat breakfast.  This is a great way to start getting more lemon juice in your diet.

Complex Carbohydrate Diet

Complex carbohydrates are wonderful for your body and are essential for a healthy and balanced diet.  Not only do they provide an inexpensive form of energy, but they are also vital for healthy blood flow.  Try eating about a quarter of a cup of oatmeal for breakfast.  If you don't like the taste of oatmeal, you can also get these complex carbohydrates by eating whole grain cereal, grits and farina.  If you need even more flavor, try adding a fresh banana or other fruit to your oatmeal.  Try to not add table sugar, as this is not healthy for those that suffer from low blood pressure.  Eating oatmeal and other complex carbohydrates is a wonderful home remedy for treating low blood pressure.

Increase Potassium Intake

Healthy blood flow is naturally optimized by potassium.  Potassium is an essential electrolyte for this function.  People that suffer from low blood pressure commonly suffer from potassium deficiency.  To treat this, try a great potassium drink as a natural remedy for your low blood pressure.  Drink this drink with your lunch every day for a month.  To make, simply juice two large carrots, a few pinches of parsley, two radishes, four cloves of garlic and two stalks of celery together.  If you don't own a juicer, try a low sodium vegetable juice (V-8 is a good choice) instead.
