Period Cramps Natural Home Remedies

Boiling one teaspoon of mustard seed in eight ounces of water is a great home remedy for period cramps. Dip a washcloth in the mixture after it has been boiling for five minutes then place the washcloth over your navel area and let it sit for fifteen minutes. This should give you instant relief from your cramps and you won’t have to worry about them for the rest of the day. This remedy can be used as a preventive measure as well.

Less Salt

Decreasing your salt intake will help keep you hydrated and help with your blood circulation so that you don’t experience cramps during your period. This can be done by not adding salt to any of your foods while you are cooking or before eating anything. Try to avoid fast food and other premade food because they all contain added salt.

Aloe Vera

Making a juice out of aloe vera leaves can help cure your cramp problem. Mix the juice in with one teaspoon of honey and drink it throughout the day. Make fresh juice every morning if you can. The healing effects are best when the juice is made fresh each day.

Radishes have amazing healing powers and can help with period cramps. Eating one to two radishes with every meal along with the leaves will help increase blood flow and relieve pain associated with menstruation cramps.

Citrus Fruits

Eating all sorts of citrus fruits including oranges and papaya can help your body fight off cramps caused by periods. Make sure to eat a mixture of these fruits so that you can get a wide range of vitamins and minerals. I juice fresh oranges each morning and also I add fresh fruits to my oatmeal.

Keeping yourself warm can help increase your blood flow which will allow your muscles to get blood so that you don’t experience cramps. You can also drink warm drinks such as teas and broths to help keep you warm.

Heating up banana leaves and eating with curd will control excessive blood flow. Doing this daily while you are on your period will help decrease your chances of having cramps.

Sesame Seed

Adding sesame seeds to an eight ounce glass of water two times a day will help control menstrual cramp pain.

Buckwheat pancakes taken with some vitamin C supplements can help control bleeding and help you avoid having cramps. Buckwheat pancakes are very healthy and filling as well. I love buckwheat pancakes.

Mixing in one half cup of neem leaf juice with one half cup of ginger root juice can reduce stomach pain caused by period cramps. Neem juice is very strong tasting but very healing. Neem is also a blood purifier.

Mango Tree Bark

As soon as you start to feel cramps to come on while you are on your period try using mango tree bark to relieve the pain caused by the cramps. Mix ten milliliters of mango tree bark juice with one hundred and twenty milliliters of water. Drink this mixture throughout the rest of the day and be sure to finish it before you go to bed. This is a natural and tasty way to help relieve the pain you are suffering with.

Essential Oils

Taking a nice hot bath with essential oils is a great way to cure your cramps while you are on your period. Start by drawing a bath with hot water but not too hot because you don’t want to burn your skin. Add ten drops of lavender and four drops of marjoram essential oils to the bath. Then sit in the bath for twenty to thirty minutes so that your muscles can relax and give you relief from your cramps. The lavender oil will also help aid you in falling to sleep. Lavender oil is naturally soothing and calming.

Marigold is a very powerful herb that works well at getting rid of period cramps. Just take two tables spoons twice a day of marigold every day that you are on your period, and this should stop the cramps.

Castor Oil

A really effective way to help relieve pain caused by menstruation is to take a wash cloth soaked in castor oil lay then  it over your lower abdomen and take a hot water bottle and place it over the castor soaked wash cloth. Allow this hot water bottle to remain there for at least 15 minutes. Castor oil has been used for centuries to treat pain.
