Itchy scalp is made worse by having oil on your hair.  Be sure to wash out any oil masks that you use and be sure to wash it regularly.  Oil will attract dust and other irritants and this can in turn block your pores.

Your shampoo can make a major difference in how your itchy scalp should be treated.  Don't use commercially available shampoos that contain lots of harmful dyes and perfumes.  Instead, use a shampoo that contains tea tree oil, as this is a wonderful natural oil that's very beneficial for an itchy scalp.  It has very potent anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.  These in turn soothe any irritation that you're experiencing on your scalp.  Other good shampoo ingredients to look for are jojoba oil and other natural oils.

Itchy scalp can also be caused by too much stress.  If this sounds like you, then try to relax and take a comfortable bath.  Use oils like lavender or valerian oil in your bath.
