Heavy Periods Natural Treatments & Home Remedies

Molasses

For heavy menstrual bleeding take 1 to 2 tablespoons of Blackstrap Unsulphered Molasses.  This is the most amazing natural treatment for heavy period bleeding.  It may take a few days or a week to really see a difference.  I now take about 1 tablespoon every night before bed and it has been a miracle for me.  I had fibroids & going through pre-menopause and some time would bleed for 6 weeks straight until I did an internet search & found this remedy to be very successful for many women.  I am so very grateful to these women for sharing this & so I wish to do the same.  It has now been about a year & it still works perfectly.  Blackstrap molasses is very good for you and is loaded with calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron & many trace minerals so it is good for your health.  I really feel for you women out there suffering & encourage you to give this a try & avoid surgery & hormone treatments.  Best of luck to you.  KM 10-16-2011

Diet and Herbs

My daughter experienced very heavy periods for a couple years. Her diet was full of sugar and processed foods. When we learned that diet can be an effective natural treatment / home remedy for heavy periods, we decided to cut out the unhealthy foods she was eating just to see what would happen. It was not easy because teenagers are prone to eat junk food but her periods were uncomfortable enough to make her want to try anything. After a couple months of not eating fast food and eating more vegetables and whole wheat bread instead of white bread she noticed a change. This encouraged both of us. We then decided to also add some natural herbs to her diet. We read that certain herbs help minimize heavy periods. These took an equal amount of each of these herbs and added them to water. You can also make a tea with them. We make this twice a day. The herbs we use are yarrow, cramp barks, partridge berry, black haw root, and chaste tree berries. You can strain the herbs from the water or actually ingest them. These herbs really helped her tremendously. Heavy periods are awful to deal with and so I really wish you luck!

Rest for One Day

I was suffering from very severe periods with heavy bleeding. I called my doctors office and they wanted to schedule an ultra sound, however I decided to first seek another opinion. I called another doctor and ended up speaking with his nurse. She told me that one of the first things I should do is take a day off with complete bed rest with my feet elevated. She also encouraged me to take ibuprofen. She said that if after a day of complete rest I am still bleeding really heavy I should come into the office. I decided to heed her advice and I stayed home for a full day on the couch with my feet elevated with pillows. I watched television and movies. The next morning I was barely bleeding. I was so concerned that I had a serious condition however now I know I just need to rest if I experience a heavy period. This is the best home remedy for heavy period I have found.

I learned the hard way that taking too much vitamin E can block vitamin K from working properly in your body. Vitamin K is the vitamin that thickens blood and since I was taking too much vitamin E I was canceling out vitamin K’s job. If you are battling heavy periods take a look at what vitamins you are taking. The best natural treatment for heavy periods is to make sure you are eating a healthy diet with proper vitamin intake.

I prefer natural treatments for my heavy periods far more than the commercial and over the counter medications. My favorite home remedy or natural treatment for heavy period is an herbal concoction made with the combination of sage, evening primrose, cramp bark, sarsaparilla, and yarrow. Take these herbs and steep in hot water for a tea, or have your herbalist make up a tincture of each of these wonderful healing herbs. Herbal therapy is so gentle and healing.
