Anger Management Natural Treatment & Remedies

Bite The Hook

As a home remedy for learning anger management, I would recommend any of the books by Pema Chodrin and especially her book Don’t Bite the Hook.  Getting a daily practice of meditation is also most useful.  The purpose of meditation is to be still.  When we can really be still for just a little bit – the mind is still – it is very magical. Start meditating maybe 5 or 10 minutes a day.  No more than you can bite off and keep doing it every day.  It is most important to do it every day.  Do it in the same place every day if you can.  This builds a habit of meditating which will carry you through the days when you don’t feel like it.  The mind will try to talk you out of doing this.  It will tell you that you are too busy or no good at this.  As your meditation practice continues, your anger will slowly begin to get smaller.  You will see your anger coming from a distance and you will have time to respond in a thoughtful way instead of biting the hook.  Then you will be well on your way to successfully managing your anger.

When caught in the sudden grips of anger, take ½ teaspoon of chamomile and one tablespoon of finely chopped cilantro leaves and steep in hot water for ten minutes.  Next, slowly sip this. (Source – oldnaturalremedies.com)

Cup of Tea Natural Treatment for Anger Management

When feeling anger take a cup of hot tea and slowly drink it.  If you need sugar, add only one tablespoon max.

Stop what you are doing and count to ten. This is a good treatment for anger management.

Spend some time listening to music alone.  While it doesn’t necessarily have to be peaceful music, it would likely help:)

I used to wake up and feel angry and continue this throughout the day without reason.  Then I discovered that I had diabetes and I reduced my sugar intake nearly completely.  It made a big difference in my life cutting out the sugar.  The anti-social behavior has stopped and I feel great.  I discovered that having too much sugar is really very bad!  This is how I manage my anger.

When angry, repeat to yourself…”in acceptance is peace”.  When you are angry about something you can’t control, then accept it.  This will allow you to move on and experience some inner peace.  If in reality you have no control over something then it doesn’t make sense to repeatedly play over in your mind.

Tantrum as Anger Management Natural Treatment

This is a great natural treatment for anger management: Go in your room and have a tantrum in bed, or take your pillow and scream in it.  You need to do this at least ten minutes or longer if you’re really angry.  Also take a pen and paper and write a letter to the person you’re mad at then burn it up.

For relaxation I put lavender oil on my temple and wrists morning and night and read a positive affirmation book.  By doing this I’m able to see that life is meant for living and loving, including forgiving.

Sit down and concentrate on figuring out a difficult yet doable math problem.  This will greatly lower your anger quickly.  Have children pick a number they can handle and to begin counting backwards.  With teenagers, I will play math games for them to figure out.  I use this strategy with math problems myself with success.

Read an inspirational book like the bible.  When drinking a glass of warm tea and relaxing, enjoy time alone with a lit candle.  This works great while in a bubble bath.  Afterward, take a light nap and wake up renewed and fresh. This style of anger management is very rewarding.
